- Has the Gap been on your list but you haven’t had the time yet?
- Would you like to improve your courage or skills?
- Are you itching to ride it again, only better, wanting to clear that technical climb? Find more flow on the descent? Simply gain more confidence?
Day 1 will be spent near the Talybont Reservoir (parking advice will follow before the day), riding a mixture of technical climbs and descents with Katy Curd, coaching you on all the skills needed to tackle The Gap ride the next day. Think effortless descents, smooth climbing techniques and energy saving skills to get you ready for your day 2 adventure.
Day 1 we take you on a short bespoke route to coach you through the skills needed to tackle The Gap.
We will work on:
* Technical climbs
* Challenging descents
* Picking your line
* Keeping momentum
* Challenging features
* Maintaining control
We will also cover
* Dealing with the weather (it is always a bit of an unknown in the mountains)
* Fuelling for a long ride
* Following another rider who is more or less skilled
At the end of the coaching day, we will gather for tea/coffee or a beer/cider, cake and roast a marshmallow or 2 to rehash the session and talk about what you want out of the ride the next day.
Friday – Riding the Gap with dirtShe & Raven Rides
Beth and Siôn will take you out on this classic 40km loop (880m). Taking in those views across Talybont reservoir to the hills and forests in the distance. In our version you get panoramic view from Bwlch y Glasgwn before you get to the ultimate view from Bwlch ar y Fan . They will encourage and remind you of how to get up those technical climbs. And most definitely whoop and laugh with you when you reach the descents.
We will meet at the Talybont Bike Hub between 9:30 and 10am aiming to ride by 10:15. Its a long and big day in the mountains, so please come prepared. We will have cake, and we can work in a coffee stop on the way around if everyone wants to.
Brake pads and spare tube
Basic tools for any repairs on the trail
We are not providing accommodation for this 2 day event, as we know many of you would like to camp, or make a longer weekend of the ride. We recommend the YHA in Talybont, or the Brecon Beacons Wild Camping for friendly, and affordable accommodation.
