Each group course will be 3 hours long, meeting at 10am and finishing at 1pm. Please arrive in plenty of time to pay for parking, sort out your equipment and be ready to ride for 10am. Your coach will meet you outside the Pedal a bike away centre for 10am for a brief introduction and chat to the group and then you will head out on to the trails from there. Please make sure you have filled in your emergency contact details and consent form before arriving.
Each course may vary slightly in terms of trails and skills coached depending on the riders booked on to the course on the day.
A mountain bike specific, fully certified helmet is compulsory for our coaching sessions. Please ensure you wear a helmet suited to the style of riding you will be doing throughout the session, any questions about this please don’t hesitate to ask. For our enduro and downhill courses we strongly recommend a full face helmet.
Please ensure your bike is in full working condition before you attend the course to avoid any wasted time during your session. There is a bike workshop on site at Pedal a bike away if you need any last minute work doing or if you would prefer to hire a bike you can do this via Pedal a bike away either online or on the day (depending on availability).
We will be out on the trails for the full 3 hours so please bring enough food and water for the full session. Your blood sugar levels and hydration are key to keep you focused during the session so please bring enough food and water to keep you hydrated and your energy levels high.
We highly recommend you bring waterproof clothing and extra layers as the weather may be changeable so please pack for all conditions. For all of our coaching session we highly recommend wearing knee pads, elbow pads, gloves and any other body protection you normally wear whilst you are riding. We advise bringing a spare tube, pump and multi-tool to avoid your day ending early, we expect everyone to carry their own spare as your coach will not have any extra equipment on them. There is a shop and workshop on site if you need any last minute spares.
For all our coaching sessions we will meet outside the Pedal-a-bike-away cafe in the Forest of Dean, Cannop cycle centre.
